When did you start shipping D/G and why do you think they make such a great couple?It all started when I came across a Draco/Ginny fic when I was first treading into the Harry Potter fandom. I didn’t read it although it interested me - I still don’t remember why not - but the idea of Draco and Ginny stuck with me as a good one. Eventually I found portkey.org, which has a Draco/Ginny forum. So I joined to satisfy my curiosity and the rest is history.
They make a great couple because how couldn’t they? They are sexy together, their characters compliment each other, bring the best out of each other… and I believe they have a kind of understanding and connection that lasts forever. They are both lonely people who have only ever wanted to be accepted and fit in with the people they admire and love - and yet are slapped down at every turn or kept at arm’s length. But they find home in each other. Draco always encourages Ginny to see the world as it is, to not hide from her feelings, not even the ones she tries to close her eyes to; Ginny always encourages Draco to feel, and to feel well and completely, to find confidence in his own worth as a good human being. They are not perfect; they are flawed, and they love each other with those flaws and because of them too. Written well, they are all about compromise, understanding, and the strength of love in the face of pride, prejudice, and adversity. And that’s the kind of relationship I admire and love.
